Mar 9 - Apr 5 Then and Now - Rug Hooking in Canada - A Canada 150 Exhibition will display contemporary and vintage hooked rugs at the AGN. It will include an interactive rug hooking station in the main gallery that invites the public to explore this Canadian heritage craft. OPENING RECEPTION Thursday March 9th 7pm. April 19 Two screenings of the Canadian film The Sweet Hereafter as NFS helps the Toronto TIFF CIRCUIT celebrate their Canada On Screen Day 2017. At 10:00 AM and at 1:00 PM. Rainbow Theatre
April 20 Cobourg Harbour - A Story of Small Town Ontario - Official kick-off of an online Community Memories Project produced by the Cobourg Museum Foundation and the Virtual Museum of Canada. Citizen's Forum, Victoria Hall.
 Apr 29  and 30 A Portrait in Documentary Film – presented by the Marie Dressler Foundation  -  Documentary Films from 15 minutes to 60 minutes from the National Film Board, CBC and National Archives of Canada will be shown and will feature a range of documentary films spanning Canada’s 150 years.

Other Projects

Throughout the year

  • The 150 Challenge – Cobourg Public Library – challenge the community to read as many Canadian books as they can over 150 days.  The list of books will be displayed at the CPL.  Prizes.
  • History of Sports in Cobourg – over 27 sports in Cobourg are being researched and written.  Watch for displays at the CCC etc.
  • Celebrating 150 years: Discovering Cobourg’s Heritage – presented by the ACO Cobourg & East Northumberland. (Summer 2017) Signs will be placed outside all building and houses that were standing in 1867 within the Town limits.  Photographs and historical information will be linked with each building on a mpa of Cobourg (available online) – potential walking and bike tours of these buildings
  • ARTSTOWN Cobourg – Downtown Cobourg – empty Storefronts will become pop-up galleries
  • Paint the Town Red - Red and White Flowers, Canadian Flags etc.
  • Canada 150 Cobourg 2017 CD – Music from the ages with the Concert Band of Cobourg – will be debuted on Canada Day
  • Book Signing – Be a part of the 2017 Guest Book – Victoria Hall lobby
