On Saturday, May 31, Cobourg Community Centre was host to Sledge Hockey and Wheelchair Basketball.  Over at St. Mary's, their gym was host to Wheelchair Rugby.  To me, it was noticeable that these games were just about as physical as the regular versions.  In Rugby in particular, the wheelchairs seemed to be re-enforced which they needed to be since they continually ran into each other.  And there was no doubting the physical fitness of the athletes. Both sports were mixed sexes - both men and women although more men.

There were lots of volunteers and lots of athletes but not a whole lot of spectators.  A pity because it was good sporting entertainment.

Below are some photos of the rugby and basketball.  Sorry no sledge hockey - there seemed to be fewer games of that - probably because there were fewer teams.
