Residents are able to put out leaf and yard waste for curbside collection. Leaf and yard waste collection is part of a plan to reach a long-term goal of 75% diversion from local landfills.
Northumberland County provides a monthly pick up of leaf & yard waste right at your curb on a routine schedule, from Mid-April to Mid-December.
Please have your brush, leaves and grass clippings out at the curb by no later than 7 a.m. on the MONDAY of your designated set-out week, not on your garbage/recycling collection day. It will be collected between Monday and Friday of your designated set-out week.
Leaf and yard waste needs to be in kraft paper bags and brush needs to be bundled. Each bundle must be tied, no longer than 3 ft, contain no materials larger than 2” in diameter and weigh less than 40 lbs. There is no limit to the quantity of leaf & yard waste that residents can place out for collection. Trees and limbs that exceed 3 feet in length and are greater than 2” in diameter, need to be disposed of at one of the County Waste Disposal Facilities.
Residents must set out any leaf and yard waste by 7 a.m. on their designated day. It will be collected at some point during that week. Please note that the leaf and yard waste collection is separate from your garbage and recycling service. Your collection day for garbage and recycling remains unchanged.
For all Cobourg residents, the pickup dates will be per Area 2; if you live in Hamilton Township West of CR #45, then you are in Area 3.
